A little about Alexander....
Alexander H. Carlston was born in Austin, Texas in 1983 to Lake Quinault
native, Della Matthynsses. After spending several years in Texas, Alex's
mother moved back to Grays Harbor to go to college near her family. Upon
graduation from GHCC, she moved to Seattle to continue her education at
the University of Washington. Alex grew up primarily in the Seattle area.
In school, Alex was an honors student, very involved with the band,
marching in many parades and playing his trumpet at concerts. He pursued
multiple music genres, his favorite being jazz. He was also an avid athlete
and was a key player on the Ballard football and wrestling teams.
Upon graduating in 2001, he then decided to pursue a degree in Music
Education at Western Washington University. He graduated in 2005 earning
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with a focus in education.
After working for different employers, over the years, Alex decided that his
ambition was to own his own business. Opening a restaurant had always
been his dream. Moving to Aberdeen after graduation was a decision that
allowed Alex to both purchase his first home as well as pursue his goal of
self employment. Alex worked as the manager of the Lighthouse Drive-In
and met a lot of wonderful Grays Harbor people.
The dream became a reality on November 30th, 2007 when Alexander's Grill
opened for business!
The focus of Alexander's Grill is to create a dining experience unparalleled
